Pages from Susanna Pearson’s diary for May 14-15, 1874. The entry on the left reads: “The sun has come out fearful hot this morning. / Received a letter from friend S. with pleasing accounts. Very warm all day.” The entry on the right reads: “Very warm to day but not so oppressive as yesterday. / Not as busy in the saloon to night as last night. / Answered my letter. / Went for a walk before breakfast alone”
